Welcome to the International Conference on Humanities 2011 website. This Conference is organised by the School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia and will be held at Park Royal Hotel, Batu Feringghi, Pulau Pinang,  Malaysia, from 14-16 June 2011.  The main theme of the conference is Empowering the Humanities in Upholding Heritage, Knowledge, People and NatureIt aims to provide a platform  towards achieving the following objectives:

  • To (re)affirm the functions of the Humanities in upholding heritage, knowledge, people and nature
  • To explore and generate ideas on the latest trends, theories and findings in the Humanities achieving the abovementioned objective. 
  • To establish collaboration among intellectuals, professionals and members of the public  in the various fields of Humanities, particularly Language Studies, Literature, Philosophy and Civilisation, History, Geography, Religious Studies and Translation Studies

We therefore invite papers for the discussion of the main theme from the following areas:

·    History and Society
·    Geography, Urbanisation and Sustainability
·    Languages and Linguistics
·    Philosophy and Civilisation 
·    Religious Studies
·    Literature and Drama
·    Translation and Interpretation
·    Indigenous/Aboriginal People
·    Technology and Innovation

All papers submitted must address one of the following sub-themes:


·    Heritage
·    Knowledge
·    People
·    Nature

Special Room Rate Sold Out:
The contracted room block (special rate) at the Parkroyal Resort is currently sold out. However, you can still make a booking with the hotel but be advised that they will likely charge you the normal room rate. Alternatively, you could search online for hotels in the surrounding area for availability but please do check back with the Parkroyal Resort Hotel periodically to see if they have any cancellations.
