INTRODUCTION

Introduction

The wide gamut of traditions in the discipline of Humanities offers their own medium in interpreting the notions of heritage, knowledge, people and nature. Transcending existing and abstract boundaries, the Humanities is engaged and intertwined in various issues such as those in Language Studies, Literature, Philosophy and Civilization, History, Geography, Religious Studies and Translation Studies.

With contemporary demands and challenges due to advances in science and technology, efforts must be (re)defined in acknowledging the multifaceted roles of the Humanities.  These, among others, require an evaluation of the core values and ethics in the relationship between people and the world around them.  As one of the domains that commits to such characteristic diversity, it is pivotal for the Humanities to play a key role in empowering this journey of (re)discovery and transformation.

Therefore, this conference aims to provide a platform towards achieving the following objectives:

  • To (re)affirm the functions of the Humanities in upholding heritage, knowledge, people and nature.

  •  To explore and generate ideas on the latest trends, theories and findings in the Humanities.

  •  To establish collaboration among intellectuals, professionals and members of the public  in the various fields of Humanities, particularly Language Studies, Literature, Philosophy and Civilization, History, Geography, Religious Studies and Translation Studies.
