Invited Speakers

FORMAT OF PRESENTATIONS

1.  Poster Presentations
Each poster session will consist of a ninety [90] minute session and conference participants will get the opportunity to speak to the presenter(s) regarding the respective paper on a one-to-one basis.

All posters must be set up thirty [30] minutes before each session and the title and author’s/authors’ name(s) must be stated at the top of the display board.  Poster presentations can consist of visuals and/or texts.  Presenters are advised to label all illustrations and to keep them simple.  The font size of all texts on the poster must be large and visible from a distance of two [2] yards.

 2.  Parallel Presentations
In each parallel session, there will be four paper presentations.  Each session will last for ninety [90] minutes.  Each presenter will be given twenty [20] minutes for his/her/their presentation.  The last ten [10] minute of each session will be shared by all presenters for a Q&A session.

EQUIPMENT

1.  Parallel and Panel Presentations
In all presentation rooms, the following equipment will be provided by the conference organising committee:

  • An LCD Projector
  • A Screen
  • A Laptop (accepts only CD-ROMs, DVDs and USB Flash Drives & reads JPEG, MP3, .wav format files)
  • A Whiteboard
  • Marker pens

All presentations submitted must be in the form of Microsoft Powerpoint or Microsoft Document.  The slides and other files (pictures and audios) for presentations must be submitted to the Conference Secretariat upon your registration on the conference day

Please take note that limited equipment such as a visualiser is NOT provided in the presentation room except upon prior reservation.  The conference organiser do not provide any photocopying and printing facilities.  They are available at the hotel’s front office with some surcharge appended.

2.  Poster Presentations
The following items will be provided for all poster presenters:

  • A Display board
  • Tape
  • Push-pins, thumb-tacks
  • Blue tac

Submission Guidelines

We welcome submissions for 30-minute papers.  200-word abstract should be sent as an attachment in the form of microsoft document (.doc)  to this email address incoh@usm.my by 15 March 2011.


Please indicate which area and sub-theme, as listed in the conference announcement, your paper should be categorised in, for example – Geography and Heritage.  However, if the need to recategorise your paper to another area or topic arises, the conference secretariat reserves to do so.


Abstract:

All abstracts could either be written in English or Malay (with English translation) and must be submitted with a pre-registration form.  You can download the form from the website. 

Abstract                : Not more than 200 words
Biodata                 : 50 words
Font and Size        : Arial, size 11

Should follow this format:

Title of Paper
Author’s full name and affiliation
Full postal address (with tel. & fax no)
Email addresses
Abstract
Area & Sub-Theme (see the list provided in the website)
Brief Biodata (<50 words)

 

The authors will be notified of acceptance by 31 March 2011.
Please refer to the website for updates on the venue, registration, and accommodation in the course of the next few months.

Special Room Rate Sold Out:
The contracted room block (special rate) at the Parkroyal Resort is currently sold out. However, you can still make a booking with the hotel but be advised that they will likely charge you the normal room rate. Alternatively, you could search online for hotels in the surrounding area for availability but please do check back with the Parkroyal Resort Hotel periodically to see if they have any cancellations.
